Where in Florida is south Hillsborough County?

South Hillsborough County is located generally south from the Alafia River to the Manatee County line, and west from the shores of Tampa Bay to the Polk County line.

The communities of south Hillsborough County, are located equidistance from four key cities in four central Florida counties:

1. Tampa in Hillsborough County
2. Sarasota in Sarasota County
3. Lakeland in Polk County
4. St. Petersburg in Pinellas County

Over 600,000 people live in unincorporated Hillsborough County.  Land uses vary from rural farm land to suburban neighborhoods.  Dozens of unique communities are found here – each with its own identity, growth issues, and concerns.    

While Hillsborough County has numerous diverse communities, development regulations are general in nature and are administered on a county-wide basis.  Community-based plans are more detailed and provide individualized recommendations.  They allow citizens to chart their own course in reshaping the appearance and function of their community.
